Call for Submissions: Brigit's Garden, Roscahill, Co. Galway (Ireland)

As part of our on-going summer programme we are hosting our first Contemporary Arts Sculpture in the Gardens Exhibition from 5th July to 31st August 2008, running in parallel with the Galway Arts Festival (14th to 27th July). Our intention is to develop Sculpture in the Gardens into an annual arts event that will attract a high calibre of artists and present sculpture to a wide audience from Ireland and abroad.

Brigit's Garden offers a magnificent setting for an outdoor sculpture exhibition, and we expect the 2008 exhibition to be seen by at least 8,000 people.

We are now seeking submissions, and invite artists to create/submit site specific works that respond to the natural and architectural landscape of the garden as well as its inherent themes.

The adjudicators for the exhibition will be Cliodhna Cussen, one of the founders of â??Sculpture in Context at the Botanic Gardens in Dublin , and Megs Morley, Public Art Officer for Galway City . There will be two awards of â?¬500, one for a Work of Distinction awarded by the adjudicators, and a second Public Award for the sculpture most popular with visitors.
