Calls to Artists for two public art commissions. Stratford (England)
Westfield is seeking submissions from artists for two commissions as part of its Stratford City Public Art Programme.
TOWN CENTRE LINK TIMELINE
The Town Centre Link will connect Stratford town centre to the new Stratford City development. The pedestrian bridge is 12m wide and 150m long, and will stretch over the railway lines from Meridian Square. We are looking for an artist to work with the local community to create a timeline which captures Stratford?s history through dates, imagery and wording translated into the granite paving.
Big Bertha is the name of the tunnelling equipment used to connect St Pancras to the new Stratford International Station. Westfield wishes to celebrate its function and form by commissioning an artist to create sculptural seating with disassembled pieces of equipment. The artwork will be sited by the International Station ? one of the primary gateways for spectators arriving at the Olympic Park.
The closing date for submissions for both commissions is the 28th November 2008.
