NICE (France) - public art commissions for the new light rail transit system

In many
French cities, the construction of new light rail transit systems has
brought about a series of large infrastructure projects resulting in
the rehab and renewal of the urban landscape and its public spaces, and
often including the commissioning of public art works. The city of
Strasbourg started the trend in the early 90?s. Montpellier, Rouen,
Nantes, Lyon, and more recently Paris, Bordeaux and Mulhouse followed
Strasbourg?s example.
On the Cote d?Azur, Nice?s metropolitan area also invited public artists to create site-specific works for their new light rail transit system.
Artists: Jaume Plensa, Michael Craig Martin, Pierre Di Sciullo, Gunda Forster, Yann Kersale, Ange Leccia, Maurizio Nannuci, Jean-Michel Othoniel, Stephane Magnin, Pascal Pinaud, Michel Redolphi, Sarkis, Emmanuel Saulnier, Jacques Vieille, Ben.
